Hawthorne Ripley

Hawthorne is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences double majoring in political science (theory concentration) and English (20th/21st Century literature concentration). Born and raised in New York City, her interests lie in public interest law and social, economic and cultural rights. She is also passionate about American legal history and jurisprudence. She is a founding member of Penn’s chapter of Amnesty International, and a research assistant for Penn Carey Law’s Visual Legal Advocacy program, contributing to documentary efforts building a case for municipal legislation related to housing access in Philadelphia. She has also served as an editor for the Daily Pennsylvanian, and is a peer coach for GEAR-UP, a mentoring & tutoring program with local public high schools. In her free time, Hawthorne enjoys reading fiction, kickboxing, baking, and watching old movies. |
